چکیده

Biological invasion The process by which an organism is introduced to, and establishes a sustainable population in, a region beyond its native range. Eradication The managed extirpation of an entire nonnative population. Impact The effect of a nonnative species on its environment. Invasibility The vulnerability of a habitat, community, or ecosystem to invasion. Invasion ecology A multidisciplinary field that examines the causes and consequences of biological invasions. Invasional meltdown The phenomenon in which multiple nonnative species facilitate one another’s invasion success and impact. Invasive species Nonnative species with conspicuously high colonization rates. Such species have the potential to spread over long distances. The term invasive is also used (often by policy makers) to describe colonizing species that cause undesirable ecological or economic impacts.

Ecological niche modeling of invasive alien plant species in a protected landscape

Non-native plants that can cause adverse effects are otherwise known as invasive alien plant species which pose a major threat to plant biodiversity conservation and sustainability. This study is dedicated to determine the plant diversity and to assess the vulnerability of Quezon Protected Landscape, Southern Luzon, the Philippines to invasive alien plant species. Data from 90 10x10 m randomly ...

The effects of climate change on the distribution of an invasive fish in Iran: Gambusia holbrooki (Girard, 1859)

Today, invasive species are considered as one of the major threats to biodiversity and ecosystem functions. The suitable habitats of these species are expected to be expanded under the effects of future climate change hence it is likely to threaten the existence of native species. Consequently, identifying the current and potential distribution range of invasive species is essential for managem...

The embryology of Ailanthus altissima (Simaroubaceae): an invasive species from Iran

Simaroubaceae is a monophyletic family in the order Sapindales with 22 genera and 109 species. Ailanthus altissima (Mill) Swingle, also known as the tree of heaven, is a highly invasive species, which systematically belongs to Simaroubaceae. Reproductive characteristics are essential for the deployment and maintenance of invasive species in new environments and examination of the reproductive s...

Identification of Invasive Species Using Remote Sensing and Vegetation Indices, (Case Study: Vazroud Rangelands, Iran)

Biological invasions form a major threat to the provision of ecosystems productsand services and can affect ecosystems across a wide spectrum of bioclimatic conditions. Therefore, it is important to systematically monitor the spread of species over broad regions. Ithas long been recognized that remote sensing and geographical information system couldcontribute to this capacity. This paper aims t...

Species distribution modelling of invasive alien species; Pterois miles for current distribution and future suitable habitats

The present study aims to predict the potential geographic distribution and future expansion of invasive alien lionfish (Pterois miles) with ecological niche modelling along the Mediterranean Sea. The primary data consisted of occurrence points of P. miles in the Mediterranean and marine climatic data layers were collected from global databases. All the used models run 100% su...

The impact of invasive species Leucanthemum vulgare Lam. on vegetation characteristics of Fandoghlou rangelands in Namin county, Ardabil , Iran

Presence of invasive species on rangelands is a degradation sign. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of invasive species Leucanthemum vulgare Lam. on the structural and functional characteristics of Fandoghlou rangelands in the Namin county of Ardabil province. The model used for sampling was the stratified random systematic. Two main sites with the presence and absence of L. vul...
